B4E 2027 — owners

Working list from the September 16 call. Not a public announcement.

If venue, operations, and sponsorships do not have working owners — and their October 15 artifacts — we shrink to one day or pause a year. Decision date: October 16, 2026.

Working means a named person, a first deliverable, and a date.

How we talk

Group Signal: comments, role switches, asking for help.
Everything else: Signal DM to the person who owns it, or to Eric.

Don’t invent a second thread on email, etc. If it needs a decision, it goes to the co-director for that lane, then Eric.

How this is split

Scott — Co-director, program
Speakers, workshops, comms, website. Scott also owns the site with Tom.

Luke — Co-director, conference + development
Venue, volunteers, socials, day-of, and development.

Tickets and sponsors report to Eric.

Each workstream has one artifact due October 15. Send it to Eric and the co-director for that lane. That is the test.

Oct 15: One page on speakers, workshops, comms, and website — who owns each, what they turned in, what’s missing.

SPEAKERS

Ronald

Invites, confirmations, green room. Eric / co-director signs off on who is on stage. Ronald runs the list. No run-of-show.

Oct 15: Target count and a first invite list (names only). Nothing goes out unless Eric says so.

WORKSHOPS

David H., Luke; Briz backup

Rooms, instructors, gear, beginner vs advanced. Workshops are their own product.

Oct 15: One page — how many rooms, which tracks, Friday-only or not, and 3–5 instructors to ask.

SOCIAL MEDIA / COMMS / DESIGN

Zoe; Pete helping

Email, Nostr/X, meetup ambassadors in Washington and Oregon. They link to the site; they don’t rebuild it.

Also owns design and brand. The site and the posts should stop looking like a leftover flyer. Direction Zoe flagged: Making Bitcoin Cool — clearer, more confident, less conference-generic. Pete has video from past events that can feed that.

Oct 15: Channel list and who posts where. Pete: inventory of existing video. Zoe: a short brand note on what “Making Bitcoin Cool” means for B4E, plus 3 visual references. No full rebrand and no public 2027 campaign.

WEBSITE

Archive the current site. Put up a simple skeleton: links to past events, a short note that we are planning 2027, and a better donation page. No ticket sales.

Oct 15: Archive live. Skeleton live. Donation page improved.

Co-director, conference + development — Luke

Oct 15: One page on venue, volunteers, socials, and development — who owns each, what they turned in, what’s missing.

VENUE

Briz and Pete

Hall, workshop site, insurance, load-in, AV.

We are already on the Revolution Hall waitlist for May 22, 2027. That is one option, not the list.

Oct 15: Two more real venue options for that date, with confirmed availability (yes / no / waitlist) and a one-line note on size and rough cost if they have it. No deposit required.

VOLUNTEERS & DAY-OF

David H.; Briz backup

Roster, shifts, briefing, no-show plan, on-site incident lead. Starts in January.

Oct 15: Role list for Friday and Saturday (check-in, mics, doors, incident lead). Not a full volunteer roster.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Briz, Tom, Zoe

Pre-party, post-conference dinner, after. Hospitality with a budget.

Oct 15: Proposed pre-party and Saturday dinner pattern (venue type, rough headcount, who pays). One real venue asked, in writing.

DEVELOPMENT: FUNDRAISING & GRANTS

Parker and Christian

Donors, bitcoin gifts, foundation grants. One pipeline. Not sponsors. Not the checkbook. Eric can introduce outside grant writers; that does not replace this artifact. No asks until pay terms are in writing. Never a percentage of donations.

Oct 15: One-page case for support and a prospect list, with who owns which name.

Oct 15: A list of companies and whether you already have a contact for each.

TICKETS & FINANCE — EMPTY

Open

Ticketing page, comps, refunds, budget, 501(c)(3) trail, bitcoin and dollar payments.

Eric is asking BTC Charts (Seattle). Until someone takes it, this seat is empty.

Oct 15: A named owner, or Eric posts a one-page ticket/finance skeleton.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT — OPEN

Need one person

Put the workstreams and October 15 artifacts in one place (Notion, a Kanban board, or similar) so we are not chasing status in Signal. This is not comms and it is not design.

Oct 15: Tool chosen, workstreams listed, owners named, Oct 15 tasks checked off or marked missing. Keep it dumb. If this seat is empty, Luke and Scott keep status on a shared doc.

Say so in the Signal group if you’ll take it — so Zoe can stay on comms and design.

October 16

Go — working owners and artifacts for venue, ops (the two co-directors), and sponsors.
Shrink — one day, local speakers, meetup-run workshops.
Pause — protect the brand.

We do not put tickets on sale until that test is real.
